Fifty minutes from our Arusha desk sits the park where walking is allowed: canoeing the Momella lakes past grazing buffalo, or hiking the slopes with an armed ranger while black-and-white colobus watch from the canopy. Mount Meru fills the sky above it all. It is the park we suggest on arrival day and jetlagged afternoons — gentle, green, and unaccountably overlooked.
